I'm from south side of Chicago and back in the 80s there was a Gertie's Ice Cream on 59th and Kedzie also one on Archer Ave near California both had amazing whipped cream . They both closed down . I've been looking for an ice cream shop that had whole made whipping cream and after all these years I finally found one. Gayety has thee best whipping cream !!!! We will definitely be back !! Great sundaes great service everyone super nice . Love the inside!! Reminds me of the 80s
I am from the area and grew up going to Geytey's and loved it! Recently, I moved back here, from L.A., and decided to come for after my birthday dinner with friends. They all live in Chicago and the suburbs and had never been to Gaytey's, so I thought it's be a great idea. It definitely was. Each of us ordered something different; sundaes, cones, shakes and not one of us was disappointed. The place has changed at all, either! Feels like traveling back in time, in the best way. Also, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The vibe was laid back and easy going. Can't wait to go back! I only got pictures of two of our sundaes. My bad.
This place has real real ice cream they also make chocolate covered strawberries and many other things everything is fresh and delicious the owner is there most of the time
I got taffy apples for my daughter's baby shower. They were amazing! They even put blue on some of the apples! They have fantastic chocolates.

Customer service is always amazing. Everything I ever had here is delightful! Tuttle sundae is my favorite. Chocolates are some of the best I've had especially the dark chocolate toffee. This place will truly satisfy your sweet tooth. Heads up there is parking in the back with a cute little patio. Enjoy!

Best ice cream sundae I've ever had! I got the pecan sundae - vanilla ice cream and it comes with hot fudge and whipped cream. The whipped cream is made in house and is not sweetened, which pairs great with all the sweet ice cream and toppings. Apparently people used to purchase tubs of it on its own - how about that. My boyfriend gets the vanilla malt and it has set the bar for ice cream for his entire life. To put the cherry on top of the old-timey experience, you gotta ask for your treat to be served in glassware. But you still get a plastic spoon.
